Safety First Before operation, always wear proper protective equipment. Note that the machine operates under high hydraulic pressure and the mold may become hot during use. Never open the lid or tamper with the machine while it is running.
Step 1: Preparation Place the iPress-2HA on a stable, flat surface to ensure smooth and safe operation, and plug the power cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
Step 2: Loading the Specimen Open the lid and position the specimen at the center of the chamber. Whether it is a small metal piece for metallographic analysis or a sample from a complex material, make sure it is placed securely.
Step 3: Adding the Mounting Compound Mikrosize offers mounting compounds specifically designed for the iPress-2HA. Pour an appropriate amount around the specimen, ensuring it covers the specimen evenly and fills the chamber to the recommended level.
Step 4: Setting the Parameters Close the lid tightly. On the control panel, adjust the pressure and time using the buttons and dials. The pressure setting is critical, as it determines how well the mounting compound bonds to the specimen. For most standard applications, refer to the recommended values in the user manual. The required time usually depends on the type of mounting compound and the thickness of the specimen.
Step 5: Starting the Cycle Press the start button. The hydraulic system will begin to apply pressure. Do not open the lid or interfere with the machine during the cycle—simply let it run to completion.
Step 6: Unloading the Mounted Specimen Once the cycle is finished and the pressure has been released, carefully open the lid. The specimen will be fully embedded in the hardened compound, ready for metallographic analysis.
