Why Choose the Automatic Metallographic Abrasive Cutting Machine (uCut-60 Series) for Your metallographic sample preparation
High-quality sectioning lays the foundation for reliable metallographic analysis. A flawless cut-off surface minimizes follow-up grinding and polishing workload and shortens overall sample-prep cycle time. The uCut-60 automatic high-speed precision cutting machine supplied by Mikrosize belongs to measuring and testing instruments, integrating multiple cutting technologies to deliver stable performance for heavy-duty laboratory and industrial sectioning tasks.
Multi-Axis Cutting Performance for Versatile Sectioning
This unit delivers full X-Y axis cutting capability to support diverse cutting
Y-axis cutting: T-slot feed table moves fixed specimens toward the rotating cut-off wheel.
Optional X-axis module: Realizes programmable parallel slicing, enabling efficient production of multiple slices with identical or variable thicknesses.
Two core cutting modes are selectable to expand its material compatibility. Optional advanced cutting techniques include diagonal cutting for enhanced cutting power, step cutting for superhard specimens, and segmented cutting for hard-to-machine workpieces. The uCut-60R variant adds automatic sample rotation cutting, which effectively lowers heat buildup during cutting to protect specimen microstructures.
Smart Automation & Intuitive HMI Operation
Built around PLC control and human-machine interface, the machine adopts a large 7-inch ergonomic touch-screen display with user-friendly software. Customizable multi-language support simplifies operation for global operators.
One standout feature is automatic cut-finish detection: the system identifies when sectioning completes, triggers automatic stop, and retracts to the initial home position without pre-setting cutting stroke values. During one single cutting cycle, operators can assign varied feed-rate values and spindle rotational speeds for segmented processing.
The spindle uses servo-motor closed-loop control with built-in overload protection to safeguard hardware and specimens. Operators configure cutting parameters directly on the LCD panel: feed rate ranges from 0.2-5 mm/sec, and the system dynamically adjusts feed speed to protect both samples and machine hardware. An optional speed-regulating accessory adjusts cut-off wheel RPM within 600-2400 RPM.
Up to 99 sets of cutting process parameters can be saved in the onboard database, paired with sample names or batch identifiers. Saved recipes can be instantly recalled for different materials, removing repeated parameter setup work. Consumable reference data is also stored for quick abrasive wheel selection. Three programmable shutdown return modes are available: halt at cut-end position, return to start point, or full reset to reference origin.

Reliable Clamping, Cooling & Self-Maintenance Functions
The robust clamping system solves clamping difficulties for small-size and irregular-shaped specimens. It comes with a stainless-steel T-slotted worktable; quick-mount special fixtures from Kemet secure nearly all component geometries from the front side. A sample-collection design prevents tiny specimens from dropping during processing.
Standard-fit closed-loop cooling system sprays coolant onto the cut-off wheel and sample to suppress overheating and preserve original microstructures. For chip-intensive materials, users can add an optional filtration unit for eco-friendly coolant filtration and separated chip collection. An external circulating water cooling device is also available.
Fully-automatic cutting-chamber cleaning runs via built-in spiral nozzles. Cleaning routines can be manually toggled, auto-activated after every cut-off cycle, or even activated mid-cut for clear process viewing. Besides automatic cleaning cycles, an external cleaning gun removes residual debris on horizontal surfaces, lowering manual maintenance burden.
Operator-Oriented Safety Design
A fully closed transparent protective cover works together with safety switches to offer full-range operator protection throughout cutting cycles.
Product Application Scenarios
The uCut-60 automatic high-speed precision cutting machine features high-speed spindle, thin abrasive cut-off wheels and tight dimensional accuracy. It is highly recommended for precision sectioning of small parts for metallographic testing, widely deployed in material laboratories, quality-control workshops, and R&D departments across metallurgy, aerospace, automotive and electronics industries.
