This professional hardness testing equipment manufactured by Mikrosize works on the following principle: a 136° square-based diamond indenter is pressed into the workpiece surface under a specified test force ranging from 49.03 N ~ 980.7 N. After a set dwell time, the two diagonals of the indentation are measured to calculate hardness values. This model is suitable for hardness tests of large workpieces and deep surface layers.

Mikrosize also provides low-force and micro-force variants of this tester:

  • The low-force model covers test forces of 1.961 N up to 49.03 N, ideal for thin workpieces, tool surfaces and coatings;
  • The micro-force model applies test forces below 1.961 N, designed for metal foils and ultra-thin surface layers.
  • As a high-performance hardness tester, it is fitted with 10× and 40× objective lenses plus a 10× micrometer eyepiece. Its LCD screen displays test method, test force, dwell time, measurement counts and other parameters. Operators only need to input indent diagonal readings via the membrane keypad; the built-in processor automatically computes hardness results and outputs them on the display.

The tester is equipped with a threaded port for connecting digital and CCD cameras, enabling seamless compatibility with dedicated Vickers hardness measurement software. It is the industry’s first model adopting a cold light illumination source with a rated service life of 100,000 hours; a halogen lamp source is also available as an alternative upon request. Optional add-ons include a CCD automatic image measuring unit, LCD video measuring unit and Knoop indenter, which greatly extend its testing functions.
